Couple Trip to Bhedetar from Dharan: 2-Day Plan

Three reasons. First: altitude. The 1,000-metre climb from Dharan changes everything — the air, the light, the temperature, the soundscape. The drive itself is part of the date, and arriving somewhere meaningfully different is what makes a trip feel like a trip.

Second: scale. Bhedetar is small enough that you'll never feel lost or rushed. You can walk from the resort to the View Tower in 10 minutes. The bazaar is two minutes by car. You spend zero energy on logistics and all of it on each other.

Third: built-for-couples infrastructure. TEC Resort & Bar runs as much for couples as for families — couple-friendly rooms with private mountain-view balconies, candlelight dinner setups, surprise cake and rose-petal add-ons, complimentary bonfire access, late checkout on request. None of this is invented for the brochure; we do it most weekends.

Three options work well for couples, each with a different vibe:

Couple Room (from NPR 4,500/night). Our most popular choice — a queen bed, mountain-view balcony, hot shower, and the best price-to-experience ratio. Right for first trips, anniversaries and most honeymoon weekends.

Deluxe Mountain-View Room (from NPR 6,500/night). Bigger, with a larger balcony, sitting area and premium toiletries. Right for honeymoons, milestone anniversaries, and any trip where you'll be spending real awake time inside the room.

Glamping Tent (from NPR 5,500/night). The most cinematic option — canvas-and-wood, fairy lights, private deck, en-suite bathroom. Right for October–April, for couples who want a story to tell and don't mind a slightly more 'outside' feel. Not recommended in peak monsoon.

Whichever you pick, message us in advance and we'll pre-set the room with rose petals, candles or a cake if you're celebrating something specific. There's no charge to ask.

Morning in Dharan (optional). If you're coming from Biratnagar or Itahari, treat the morning as a slow start in Dharan — momos at Putali Line, a 30-minute stop at Dantakali, a coffee at one of the Bhanu Chowk cafes. Don't overdo it; the point of the day is to be at the resort with energy left for the evening.

Leave Dharan by 2–3 PM. The drive up is 45 minutes and you want to reach the resort by 3:30–4 PM. Check in, freshen up, take 20 minutes on the balcony with a cup of tea. Don't unpack everything — you're going back out.

Sunset walk (around 5 PM in winter, 6 PM in summer). Walk together to the Bhedetar View Tower (10 minutes from the resort) and watch the sun drop over the hills. This is the right moment for a phone-down photo together — the light at sunset here is unusually flattering.

Back at the resort by 6:30 PM. Bonfire is lit at 7. Pre-book the candlelight dinner setup (NPR 1,999 add-on): a private corner of the terrace, lanterns, rose petals, a three-course meal of your choice from the kitchen, and zero interruptions. We have couples who do this for first anniversaries and couples who've done it for their tenth — both leave equally happy.

After dinner, drift back to the bonfire for an hour. If you've ordered a cake, this is when we bring it out. Early to bed — 5:30 AM comes fast.

5:30 AM alarm. Wrap a blanket from the room around both of you, walk to the terrace, watch the Himalayas turn pink over a slow coffee. This is the single moment most couples tell us they'll remember forever — it's worth the early alarm even if you hate early alarms.

Back to bed at 6:45 if you want — the room is yours until checkout. Otherwise, slow breakfast on the terrace at 8–9 AM.

Late morning: one short trip together. Either walk to the Skywalk and View Tower (90 minutes round trip including photos), or, if you're up for something more active, drive to Namaste Falls (2 hours round trip). Either works; choose based on energy.

Check out by 11 AM (late checkout possible on request). Slow lunch on the way back to Dharan — sekuwa, momos or a thali. Home by evening, properly rested, with a phone full of photos you'll actually look at again.

Worth every rupee: Candlelight dinner setup (NPR 1,999). Anniversary or birthday cake (NPR 999). Rose-petal room decoration (NPR 1,499). Late checkout till 1 PM (free on request, subject to availability).

Worth it for special occasions: Live acoustic guitarist for 45 minutes at your candlelight dinner (NPR 2,500). Pre-wedding photography slot with a local photographer (NPR 8,000–15,000 depending on duration).

Skip unless you really want it: in-room champagne service (the bonfire is more atmospheric than any in-room drink). Spa packages (we don't run one ourselves and the third-party options in Dharan are inconsistent — wait till you're back in Kathmandu).

Budget tier (couple room, no add-ons, eat from the bonfire BBQ menu): NPR 7,500–9,500 per couple for one night.

Standard tier (couple room, candlelight dinner add-on, BBQ platter, breakfast included): NPR 10,500–13,500 per couple for one night.

Honeymoon tier (deluxe mountain-view room or glamping tent, candlelight dinner, cake, rose-petal setup, breakfast, late checkout): NPR 14,500–18,500 per couple for one night.

All prices exclude travel from Dharan (taxi roughly NPR 1,500–2,000 each way). All prices include the bonfire, sunrise terrace access and secure parking.

Two outfits per person (one casual day outfit, one slightly nicer dinner outfit). Layers — a fleece, a light jacket year-round, a proper warm jacket in December–February. Comfortable walking shoes plus one nicer pair for dinner. Sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm. Phone chargers and one power bank between you.

If you're celebrating something — don't bring the cake or flowers from Dharan. Tell us 24 hours in advance and we'll handle it. The cake will be fresher and there's nothing romantic about transporting a frosted cake up 1,000 metres on a winding road.

We help with proposals roughly once a month and we've gotten quite good at the choreography. WhatsApp us at least 72 hours in advance with the date, the moment you want (sunset terrace, post-bonfire candlelight dinner, or 5:45 AM sunrise are the three popular ones), and any specifics — favourite flowers, dietary preferences, whether you want a photographer hidden nearby, whether you want the staff to know or not.

We charge nothing for the planning itself; you pay only for the add-ons you choose (cake, candlelight setup, photographer). We've never had a proposal not work out, and the staff is genuinely happy to be part of it.
